Key Platform Policies

Marketplace Purpose

  • Make It Hive is a service-based marketplace designed to connect sellers offering services with buyers seeking them. Listings must accurately reflect the services being offered.
  • Product-based listings, unrelated items, or listings that violate platform guidelines will be rejected.

Listing Approval

  • All listings are subject to review and approval by Make It Hive before they go live. This review process ensures compliance with platform guidelines.
  • Approval may take up to 24 hours, and listings that do not meet the platform’s standards will be rejected or require revision.

Creating Listings, Requests, and Profiles

  1. Seller Liability: Sellers are fully responsible for the accuracy, legality, and content of their listings. Make It Hive does not verify or validate the content of listings or the services offered by sellers.
  2. Service Quality: Sellers must deliver work as described in their listing and in accordance with the agreement with the buyer.
  3. Refunds and Fees: If a refund is issued to the buyer due to the seller’s fault, the seller will not be reimbursed the 10% commission fee.

Refund Policy

  • Refunds to buyers are processed at Make It Hive’s sole discretion following an investigation.
  • If the seller is deemed not at fault for the issue leading to the refund, Make It Hive will refund the 10% commission fee to the seller.
  • If the seller is found at fault, they forfeit the commission fee.
  • Make It Hive reserves the right to determine fault based on the evidence provided by both parties during the dispute resolution process. All decisions are final.

Commission Fee

  • Make It Hive charges a 10% commission fee to the seller based on the total order value of each transaction.
  • This fee is deducted automatically from the seller’s earnings and is non-refundable unless the refund investigation deems the seller not at fault.

Seller Payouts

  • Sellers can only request payouts once their account balance reaches £100.
  • Payouts are processed on the last working day of each month.
  • Sellers must ensure their payment details are accurate. Make It Hive is not responsible for delays or failed payments due to incorrect information.

Changes to Listings

  • Sellers may update their listings; however, significant changes that alter the nature of the service offered may require reapproval by Make It Hive.
  • Make It Hive reserves the right to review, modify, or reject updates to listings to ensure compliance with platform guidelines.

Prohibited Conduct

Users must not:

  • Post illegal, misleading, infringing, or inappropriate content in listings or profiles.
  • Circumvent the platform, such as taking transactions or communications off the platform to avoid fees. Users found engaging in this behaviour will have their accounts permanently banned.
  • Use the platform for activities that violate any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Engage in abusive, offensive, or harassing behaviour towards other users, including buyers, sellers, or Make It Hive staff.
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or otherwise interfere with the operation of the platform or its associated systems.
  • Use automated tools, bots, or other methods to manipulate the platform, including ratings, reviews, or rankings.

User Content

Users retain ownership of the content they upload but grant Make It Hive a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, and distribute content as part of platform operations. Make It Hive is not liable for user-generated content.

Communication and Etiquette

  • All communication between buyers and sellers must occur through the Make It Hive platform.
  • Users are required to use respectful and professional language at all times. Abusive or inappropriate behaviour may result in account suspension or termination.

Taxes and Compliance

  • Sellers are solely responsible for determining and paying any taxes applicable to the services they provide, including VAT, income tax, or other relevant taxes.
  • Make It Hive does not provide tax advice and is not responsible for collecting or remitting any taxes on behalf of users.

Support and Queries

  • Users may contact Make It Hive support at info@makeithive.com.
  • Our target response time for support queries is 24 hours. However, response times may vary depending on query volume.

Dispute Resolution

  1. Mediation: Make It Hive will mediate disputes between buyers and sellers in good faith. Both parties must provide evidence to support their claims. The platform will make a final decision based on the evidence submitted, but the resolution is not guaranteed to satisfy both parties.
  2. Escalation: If disputes cannot be resolved through internal mediation, parties may escalate the issue to an independent arbitration service at their own expense. Make It Hive is not obligated to participate in third-party arbitration.
  3. Refunds: In cases where a refund is required and deemed the seller’s fault, the seller will not be reimbursed for the 10% commission fee.

Beta Service Disclaimer

Make It Hive is currently operating as a beta service. Users may experience changes to functionality, features, and processes during this period. By using the platform, you acknowledge that certain features may be incomplete or subject to updates. Feedback from users during this phase is encouraged to help improve the platform.

Limitation of Liability

  • Make It Hive provides the platform “as is” without warranties of any kind.
  • We are not liable for:
    • Content accuracy, legality, or the results of transactions.
    • Financial losses, damages, or disputes between users.
    • Actions or omissions of users, including sellers’ services.
    • Loss of data or service interruptions.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Make It Hive, its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from and against all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the platform.
  • Your breach of these terms.
  • Any claim by a third party related to your content or actions on the platform.

Force Majeure

Make It Hive is not liable for delays, interruptions, or failures in service caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, cyberattacks, or technical failures.

User Ratings and Reviews

  • Buyers may leave reviews and ratings for sellers after transactions.
  • Make It Hive does not verify the accuracy of reviews and is not responsible for any disputes arising from them.
  • Sellers may not manipulate reviews, including posting fake reviews or soliciting biased feedback.

Refunds and Chargebacks

  • Buyers may request refunds only in cases where the service provided does not meet the agreed terms or quality standards.
  • If a chargeback occurs, Make It Hive will investigate the issue. Sellers are responsible for providing evidence of fulfilment.
  • Make It Hive reserves the right to deduct chargebacks from the seller’s earnings, including the 10% commission fee.

Platform Monitoring

Make It Hive reserves the right to monitor user activity and communications on the platform to ensure compliance with these terms. Users consent to such monitoring as part of their use of the platform. Violations may result in account suspension, bans, or legal action.

Payment Processing

  • Payments are processed through third-party payment gateways. Make It Hive is not responsible for delays, errors, or fees imposed by these providers.
  • Sellers must ensure their payment details are accurate.
  • Make It Hive may withhold payments in cases of disputes or suspected fraud.

Account Termination

Make It Hive reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, including but not limited to:

  • Fraudulent behaviour.
  • Taking transactions off-platform.
  • Repeated disputes or user complaints.

Upon termination, users forfeit access to their account data, and Make It Hive is not obligated to restore it.

Modification of Terms

Make It Hive reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by UK law. Users agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of UK courts.
